2005
Tele2 continues to invest in the broadband market through acquisitions of Spanish telecom operator Comunitel, Versatel (Netherlands and Belgium) and Tiscali (Denmark). Tele2 also enters into an infrastructure partnership with Neuf Telecom in France and initiates its own infrastructure roll-outs in Sweden, Norway and Italy. Tele2 discontinues operations in Finland, UK and Ireland, in the wake of unsatisfactory legislation.
2006
With the corporate market for telecom services having made significant progress in recent years, particularly in IP telephony and integrated solutions, Tele2 has improved its offering by acquiring 49 percent of the shares in the Swedish company Spring Mobil and 75.1 percent of the shares in E.ON Bredband in Southern Sweden. Tele2 has also formed a company called Plusnet, which has a large-scale infrastructure in Germany, under a joint venture with QSC. In addition, further operations were acquired in Russia. In 2006, Tele2 disposed of its fixed network and broadband operations in France and its operations in the Czech Republic.
2007
A very eventful year for Tele2. We achieved a more focused product portfolio and concentrated geografical footprint. We increased our mobile telephony drive, particulary in Russia, while we decided to withdraw from six countries where we had fixed telephony and broadband operations. At Group lever, our operating revenue grew by 1 percent as a result of divestments, while EBITDA increased by 15 percent. Operating cash flow increased by 13 percent.
2008
Tele2 performed very well in 2008, despite tougher market conditions. After a number of successful divestments, Tele2 is even meaner and leaner than before. Tele2s focus is on our four home markets, pushing our mobile operations even harder. Lars-Johan Jarnheimer left as CEO of Tele2 after 10 years and was succeded by Harri Koponen. In Russia, we continued our expansion and acquired Digital Expansion's mobile network in the region of Kaliningrad. During the year Tele2 has had an successful brand and product strategies in Russia and has 35 regions with a total population coverage of approximately 61 million. The divestment of Tele2 Switzerland was completed in late 2008, according to plan. Tele2 had a year-on-year growth by 6 percent, and a profitability margin well above 2007.
