A day filled with innovation

70 participants were Hacking this year!

Projects born in passion
Hack Day is dedicated to creativity and passion. Teams were welcoming students to join their projects and among 70 participants from both Tele2 Latvia and Tele2 SSC, 8 were students from Latvian universities.

Most projects were aimed to contribute to culture or provide a technical solution to different areas. Altogether 14 projects were presented, competing in 5 categories.

See press take on the event from Dienas Bizness (in Latvian).

Useful and fun
Among projects were a couple that might make our office day better. “Brand new broadcastify app for Tele2” offered new ways for us to stay informed and become more cost efficient. Project suggested using screens already installed in the office to display latest news and relevant information to be seen by all employees at their workspace.

Other projects concentrated on issuing a monthly corporate magazine, creating beautiful handcrafted items for annual Tele2 Employee charity fair and acting for “Reach for change” to improve the lives of children.

“Personalized photos for employees” offered to create pictures for each employee that would be held in unified corporate style without looking dull. Team offered some clever ideas that set a whole new standard for corporate profile pictures!

People’s Choice went to “Taker” this year – an app letting hikers explore best tracking places and contributing to active lifestyle and hobbies.

“System guard” was chosen as Best Technical Solution, proving that technology really can be made into art.

List of nominations and winners:

1. People's choice - TAKER
2. Most useful - 5 minutes for 4g
3. Most profitable - TeleCast
4. Contribution to culture - Corporate style employee photo
5. Best technical solution - System guard

Creativity welcome!
Tele2 Hack Day takes place in Sweden, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. Teams in Sweden and Latvia also invite students to participate and share their ideas – we encourage fresh and bold ideas that come from outside.

The next great idea might be yours!
