Tele2 going strong in the Norweigan market

Over the last year, Tele2 has gradually strengthened its position in the Norwegian telecom market. Since January 2011, we have gained more than 1.5 % market share and two of our Norwegian brands, Lebara and One Call, have been recognised for their achievements in the area of marketing and customer relations.

With 1.2 million customers we are the third most significant mobile operator in Norway, only behind the giants Telenor and TeliaSonera. But whilst Telenor and TeliaSonera lost market shares in 2011, we gained. At the onset of 2012 we were serving 18.5 % of the Norwegian market, a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year. Within the same period, Telenor and TeliaSonera lost 0.2% and 1.1% market share, respectively. We have continued this positive development in the first quarter of 2012 – 16 000 new Norwegian customers have found their way to Tele2 during these three months. Additional figures on the Norwegian telecom market are available in the annual statistical rapport of the Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority.

However, it is not just the figures that are telling the tale of Tele2s progress in Norway.

Lebara was in March awarded the price for “Marketer of the Year 2011”. Presented by the Norwegian Marketing Association and the leading Norwegian marketing magazine, Kampanje, this price is highly regarded in the Norwegian marketing industry. By rising all the way to the top, Lebara beat the heavyweights SAS and DNB, Norway’s biggest bank, who were the two other finalists.

One Call followed up the success of last year and is to be found in top five of the annual Norwegian customer satisfaction poll, “Norsk Kundebarometer”, also for 2012. Although One Call dropped from first to fourth place all industries compared, we still rank the highest among mobile operators, and our customers have in fact given us even higher scores than in 2011.
