TELE2 INCREASES OWNERSHIP IN ITS ST PETERSBURG MOBILE OPERATION

New York and Stockholm - Tele2 AB, ("Tele2"), (Nasdaq Stock Market: TLTOA and TLTOB and Stockholmsbörsen: TEL2A and TEL2B), the leading alternative pan-European telecommunications company, today announced that it has obtained 100% ownership in and full control over the Russian GSM operator "Sankt-Peterburg Telecom", by purchasing the remaining 14% stake in the company.

"Sankt-Peterburg Telecom" operates in Russia's second largest city, St Petersburg, with a population of 4.7 million.
