What does it mean being an IT talent?
It means a lot of things. It means that you will get to start your career as a developer at your own pace. You have the benefit of learning from experienced developers every week and you have one day each week dedicated 100% to the IT Talent Program and your own development. Being an IT talent also means that you’ll get to know a lot of people from different parts of Tele2 from day one.
What made Tele2 stand out from other employers?
There’s were two things that made Tele2 stand out. The most important one for me was the vibe at the office. It felt relaxed and almost like being at a start-up. The second thing that made Tele2 stand out, was that we in our developer roles are expected to learn new technologies and to not be afraid of trying out a new programming language. At Tele2 we have hackdays and hackathons where people get to do exactly that.
Best experience at Tele2 so far?
This is a tricky one. I’ve already had so many great experiences at Tele2, but I’d say the mini project during our intro week was great fun. We had listened to different presentations for a few days but hadn’t coded anything and we couldn’t wait for the mini project to start. This meant that everyone was so excited when we actually started to code and we ended up creating some amazing prototypes together.
What part do you enjoy the most in your role as IT talent?
The part that I enjoy the most is that I get to know so many awesome people from different teams as an IT talent. You get your own small “IT Talent” network within the company, where you can learn from each other and discuss anything.
What is your best career advice for students who are about to start their careers?
I think the most important thing is to be patient and to always have in mind that both you and the company should feel that you are a good fit. If you are just about to start your career it’s also beneficial to be in a talent or trainee program because then you get more time to learn both new technologies and the company’s own systems.
What surprised you the most when you started at Tele2?
I was really surprised when I found out how many different departments and teams we have at Tele2. I knew that Tele2 was really big, but I didn’t have a clue about how large the organization actually is.
What is the working environment like?
I think it is a very open working environment. The core values of Tele2 are definitely reflected in the working environment and I feel that I can be open with my team if there’s any issue or idea that I want to discuss with the team. There’s no prestige and everyone’s voices are being heard.
How do you spend your free time?
In my spare time I do quite a lot. I like to be active and work out, but I also have a passion for gaming and football. I’m a huge Arsenal supporter so I watch most of their matches as well. When I’m not working out, watching football or playing games, I spend time with my girlfriend.
