Martin Normell

B2B trainee

Martin recently completed five years of studies in Uppsala, earning a degree in industrial engineering and management. During that time, he also gained professional experience, including work as a student consultant at Consor and an internship at Northvolt. These roles provided opportunities to apply academic knowledge in practice, collaborate with teams from diverse backgrounds, and gain insight into project management within real organizations.

Outside of work, Martin stays active with a wide range of interests. Skiing and ball sports take up a significant amount of time, both for their enjoyment and competitive aspects. In addition, he greatly values time spent with friends and family.

What made you choose Tele2?

My impression of Tele2 is that it’s a dynamic company—one that isn’t afraid to challenge traditional ways of working and instead takes bold, forward-looking steps. That fresh, energetic image immediately caught my attention and sparked my interest. I was also impressed by the significant progress Tele2 has made in the area of sustainability.

Naturally, the role itself was a major part of the appeal. The prospect of gaining access to environments I wouldn’t otherwise encounter and being involved in decision-making within such a large organization was highly attractive. Equally compelling was the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues while continuously challenging myself and developing further.

Another deciding factor was seeing how many previous trainees chose to stay at Tele2 well beyond their trainee year. That told me a lot about the culture and the opportunities for development within the company. It made it clear that this isn’t just a one-year program, but potentially the start of something long-term.

What will you be doing as an B2B trainee?

Over the year, I’ll be shadowing my EVP and joining both internal and external meetings, giving me a close-up look at how decisions are made at the senior level. I’ll be working closely with his leadership team, with my days filled with preparing input for strategic discussions, supporting ongoing initiatives, and finding ways to contribute wherever I can.

Another key part of the role is getting to know the company, building relationships across teams and departments, and learning how everything connects. For me, it’s a unique chance to see how a large organization really works, understand the link between strategy and execution, and gradually take on more responsibility as I grow during the year.

What are you most looking forward to during the year?

What excites me the most is the opportunity to develop by working closely with senior colleagues and being placed right in the middle of where things happen. It’s a unique chance to see how decisions are made, understand the reasoning behind them, and contribute in my own way.

Even after just three months, I already find the trainee program incredibly valuable. The combination of learning, challenge, and responsibility is exactly what I was hoping for.

Which of our core values do you like best, and why?

The value that resonates most with me is Be brave. I think it perfectly reflects what this trainee year is all about—it would be very challenging without a forward-leaning mindset and the courage to step up in this kind of environment and out of your comfort zone.

I also feel that Be brave reflects who I am outside of work as well, which makes the value even more meaningful to me. Whether in sports or other areas of life, I’ve always tried to push myself into situations that are new or demanding, because that’s when I grow the most.
