Patrik Kraft
CTIO trainee
At Tele2, technology is the backbone of everything we do. During Patrik’s CTIO trainee year, he’s done everything from climbing a mast and touring data centres to contributing to strategic technology initiatives.
Why did you choose Tele2?
“Tele2’s challenger spirit, strong brand, and commitment to sustainability really appealed to me. The industry plays a crucial role in society, and I saw the trainee programme as one of the best ways to get an exceptional start to my career.”
What does a CTIO trainee actually do?
“As part of the technology organisation, I have worked across IT, Networks, and TV, supporting the CTIO and leadership team in strategic projects. Early on, I joined field
visits – climbing a mast, touring data centres, and listening in at customer service. Those visits were both fun and eye-opening, showing how the technical work behind the scenes directly shapes the customer experience.”
Looking back, what stands out most from your trainee year?
“The steep learning curve. The work has been more complex and hands-on than I expected. What I value most is the impact you can have, even as a trainee, your ideas are valued and can shape direction. Despite Tele2 being a large company, it never felt like I was just a cog in the wheel.”
What’s next for you?
“I’m excited to continue in DCT as Strategy Manager, supporting the connection between Tele2’s overall strategy and DCT’s priorities. Building on the broad perspective I gained during my trainee year and my background in strategy and investment analysis, I’ll focus on maximizing value and cost-efficiency from our network and technology investments. It’s a great opportunity to keep learning, contribute meaningfully, and take on new challenges together with the team.”
What’s your advice to future trainees?
“Make the most of this unique year – say yes to opportunities, go broad before you specialise, and build your network. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or step into unfamiliar territory. This programme gives you a rare chance to see how everything connects – from technology and strategy all the way to the customer experience.”
