Tele2 signs new fixed broadband contract with KPN
Jeff Dodds, CEO Tele2 Netherlands, comments: “Tele2 started life as a fixed service provider in the Netherlands and over the years we have been very successful in challenging both the B2B and residential markets with innovative products for a great price. With this agreement in place we will be able to offer much, much faster fixed broadband services to a much larger number of homes. This increased choice is brilliant news for Dutch consumers and businesses. With our state-of–the-art fixed and mobile networks in place we will be able to offer our customers affordable, high quality internet wherever they are.”
VULA
Currently Tele2 offers ADSL and VDSL services that are predominantly delivered using its own nationwide fiber network and KPNs copper network for the ‘last mile’. With the new VULA agreement customers can additionally benefit from new techniques in the KPN copper network, such as pair bonding and vectoring, ensuring higher speeds of up to 100 Mb/s, comparable to the speeds currently offered over coaxial cable. According to KPN’s current projections around 85% of the Netherlands will have access to speeds up to 100Mb/s by the end of 2016.
