Tele2 signs mobile telephony deal for MVNO in Germany

New York and Stockholm - December 19, 2001 - Tele2 AB, ("Tele2", "the Group") (Nasdaq Stock Market: TLTOA and TLTOB and Stockholmsbörsen: TEL2A and TEL2B), the leading alternative pan-European telecommunications company, today announced a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) agreement in Germany. Tele2 Telecommunications Services GmbH and VIAG Interkom signed an agreement in Munich allowing Tele2 to use Interkom's wireless network to provide the air interface for Tele2's fixed line customers.
 
Tele2 is one of Germany's largest Indirect Access Operators with over 1 million residential and business fixed telephony customers. Tele2 now intends to start offering combined fixed and mobile services to its substantial customer base. Tele2's mobile service will be sold on the basis of simplicity and value, the same offering that has given the company such success with fixed services both in Germany and throughout Europe. Tele2 Mobil will also offer the benefits of one-bill' and other bundled services.
 
Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, President and CEO of Tele2 AB said "Germany is the largest telecoms market in Europe and this MVNO will enable Tele2 to offer an attractively priced offering of both fixed and mobile services on one bill to our customers. We expect that this MVNO will be operational in Q2 2002. This agreement in Germany adds to Tele2's MVNOs in The Netherlands and Denmark and Tele2 intends to look for similar arrangements so that we can leverage from the strength of our 14 million customers across Europe."
