What do you do at Tele2?
I work as Business Controller for B2B Small and am a part of the B2B Business Control team. In my role I act as a link between Finance and the B2B Small Commercial team, working with the financial aspects of the business. This concerns everything from budgets and forecasts to closely analyzing the actual results on a monthly basis, as well as a variety of other financial tasks.
What got you interested in working at Tele2?
The people! I started my career at Tele2 as part of the Executive Trainee Program close to a year ago. During the recruitment process I became very certain that Tele2 was the best place for me to start my career. There were many factors that affected my decision, and they were all related to the hard-working attitude and welcoming spirit of the people who work here.
What is most the exciting part about your job?
I really enjoy digging deep into numbers, connecting them to a story and getting the bigger picture. By having one foot in Finance and the other in Commercial, I feel like I am getting the best of two worlds.
What have you learnt from working in finance?
I have learnt so many things, both on a high strategic level but also pure technical knowledge. The deeper understanding that I’ve gained of how a large cap company operates during hectic periods, like quarterly reports or budget and forecast planning, is something I highly value.
Describe a typical day at work.
My daily workload varies because it depends on what’s on the agenda for that specific period of time. I usually start every day with a morning meeting with the B2B controller team. Typical tasks include putting together budgets and forecasts and analyzing monthly and quarterly results to identify potential deviations from earlier forecasts and budgets. Sometimes I work on business cases where I calculate and analyze their impact on the company. I also have recurring weekly and monthly meetings involving both the controller and the commercial teams.
Describe the culture at Tele2.
I have always felt welcomed and appreciated at Tele2. People are very involved and value each other’s opinions and work. I believe that this appreciation, in combination with our fearless attitude that you can sense in the air when you’re at the office, is unique to Tele2.
How would you describe the managers at Tele2?
The two managers I have had the opportunity to work with so far have been great. They are true leaders both in terms of their knowledge and in how they act.
What makes Tele2 stand out from other employers?
I have to mention my colleagues again. By surrounding yourself with such motivated and talented people, you are encouraged to evolve as a person and do your best at work.
What is important for you as an employee?
To feel appreciated for the effort I put in, to find interest in what I am working on and most importantly to be surrounded by people who make you better. I feel like Tele2 has scored high on all three of those points during my time here.
What expectations do you set for your colleagues?
I would say that I expect the same thing of my colleagues as I feel is expected from me: to always do your best and have a “doer attitude”.
What has been your best experience at Tele2 so far?
That I got the chance to start as a business controller even though I had only completed half of my trainee year. The fact that I was offered this position made me feel appreciated and believed in.
What would you say to people who are interested in working at Tele2?
I would say that Tele2 is a great place to be if you are driven and curious. There are so many things going on all the time, so it’s possible to learn something new every day. I have never regretted starting my career here.
