Meet Nejat Hamid

IT Talent program

How did you learn about the Tele2 IT Graduate Program?

I am not sure if it was on LinkedIn or on the weekly job-notification I receive when I joined the Tele2 Talent Community. I had my eyes on Tele2 for a while before applying to the program so I receive job-notifications every week.

What made you decide to apply for the Program?

The fact that it is a 10 month program in a big company can offer a lot of possibility in the future. Tele2 have a challenging environment where I can have a professional growth and advancement. The leadership within Tele2 has a reputation to take care of its own which was a big plus for me.

What made Tele2 stand out from other employers?

The open environment and the team sprit I witnessed when I first came to the interview was what stood out the most. Many companies I visited gave me an isolated impression, but in Tele2 I felt part of something the very first day. And I knew the feeling will just grow stronger by time!

What did you do before you entered the Program?

I studied computer science engineer at KTH Flemingsberg, a bachelor degree.

What surprised you the most when you started?

The amount of hours we spend in meetings were surprising. This is one of the things you don’t get to learn in school and no one actually tell you about as a student.

Describe a typical day at work?

The working hours are very flexible which is good for me because I am not an early bird. We have a daily-meeting for 15 min where we sync-up on what we have been doing, and what we will be doing. Then we get to work! The two hour before lunch are the most effective. Some days are full with meetings considering the merge the company is having with Com Hem, some days have less meetings so it’s is perfect to focus on developing. We usually sit a few hours together to do power programing or a mob. No day looks the same, some days we spend on courses, others we work with our team.

What are your hobbies or passions outside of work?

I like football. I follow Premier League and Champions League. I also like movies and tv series.

Best experience at Tele2 so far:

The off-site workshop we have had at the Tele2 Arena was the best by far.

Why do you recommend applying for the program?

There are a lot of reasons one should apply for this program. But the most important reason is that you get to learn different systems without anyone expecting you to deliver anything. Throughout the 10 months different kinds of internal lectures are given, they vary and are not only technical. This is a unique opportunity to learn and evolve as a developer, whilst getting paid at the same time. The program gives you an easy slide from student to developer.

The open environment and the team sprit I witnessed when I first came to the interview was what stood out the most.
