CEO trainee

As CEO Trainee, Axel has worked closely with the CEO, the Group Leadership Team, and the Board. The role offered him a front-row seat to Tele2’s strategic direction and culture, and a rare opportunity to learn directly from executives during a year of rapid change.

What does a CEO trainee do? 
“Day-to-day, I have supported the CEO Office on strategic projects, prepared material for leadership and Board meetings, and contributed to decision-making forums. The role has given me a broad perspective on our new strategy and how we are returning to our challenger roots. It’s been a fascinating time to join, and I’ve learned an enormous amount in a short period.” 
 

What has been the best part of the trainee year? 
“One of the most valuable aspects has been the opportunity to observe and learn from the leadership team — an experience that is quite rare so early in a career. Another highlight has been sharing the journey with the other trainees. We have supported each other, built strong networks across the organisation, and formed close friendships along the way.” 
 

What’s next for you at Tele2? 
“I will continue in the CEO Office as Strategic Initiatives and Transformations Lead, reporting directly to the CEO. In this role, I’ll drive key strategic projects and work closely with the Board and leadership team. It’s an exciting next step that I am looking forward to.” 
 

 Do you have any advice for future trainees? 
“Be curious and eager to learn, not only about your role, but about the company as a whole. Ask questions, take initiative, and be open to exploring areas you might not have expected. This is a rare opportunity to gain broad exposure early in your career, so make the most of it.”

Education: Bachelor’s degree from the Stockholm School of Economics and master’s degree from Hult International Business School in London. 
Previous experience: Start-ups, Procter & Gamble, Amazon, and management consulting.
