Meet Joel
Head of Corporate Communications
What do you do at Tele2?
I am Head of Corporate Communications at Tele2, with a focus on external communications. I strive to promote and protect the Tele2 brand in all external activities, from brand launches to quarterly reports. Moreover, I am first point of contact for journalists, and I am a member of the company’s crisis management team. I also support various sustainability projects, especially within our focus area aimed at protecting children in a connected society.
What got you interested in working at Tele2?
I enjoy the challenge of communicating and simplifying topics that are both important and complex. As a telecom operator, Tele2 provides vital infrastructure for our society and offers communication and entertainment to both consumers and businesses. At the same time, much of our services are very complex and often regulated. Combined, this creates very interesting challenges for someone working with communications.
What is the most exciting part about your job?
Tele2 is a Large Cap company listed on the stock market, providing vital infrastructure for millions of people and business. As such, we are constantly observed and even scrutinized from all angles, which results in new communication challenges every week, or even on a daily basis. My days never look the same and I never work with the same topics one month after another. At Tele2, each employee is also given a lot of responsibility and accountability and that certainly drives me forward.
Describe the culture at Tele2
Despite our size, our organization is quite slim. As such, we have quite an action-oriented culture that focuses on getting things done. I think our values of being fearless, open, cost efficient, reliable and flexible describe the culture we want to achieve rather well.
What makes Tele2 stand out from other employers?
The fact that you are allowed to take on a lot of responsibility from the start. There is also the fact that Tele2 provides connectivity, a commodity many crave almost as much as food nowadays. We matter a lot in society.
What expectations do you have on your colleagues?
Good colleagues make each other better by bouncing off ideas, discussing and even debating with each other. I like this kind of openness and think it is important that you can provide and receive honest feedback while also having fun together. That is how you achieve great results in the end.
What has been your best experience at Tele2 so far?
My first annual “Tele2 Award” party was awesome. The Tele2 Awards is when the whole company from all parts of Sweden and stores gather to celebrate ourselves. The entire Tele2 Arena in Stockholm was rebuilt into a big theme party with great artists and dancing all night long. Good times.
What would you say to people who are interested in working at Tele2?
If you are not afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone and chase new experiences, then this is a great place to work – go for it!
