Niklas Andersson, Excutive CFO Trainee, Stockholm, Sweden

What does it mean being a CFO trainee?
It means you get the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most experienced Finance people. Although the main focus is on supporting the CFO, you interact with professionals across all different Finance functions on a daily basis. The role includes being part of challenging and inspiring projects, giving you the chance to really push your limits and maximizing your learning curve. 

What made Tele2 stand out from other employers?
The people. By surrounding yourself with such driven and highly motivated colleagues you put yourself in a position of wanting to become like them. 

Describe a typical day at work?
Most days are intense and include a combination of meetings and other tasks. It is hard to find a typical day because it depends a lot on what time of the year it is. Around the quarterly reports most of the focus is on that, while during other periods the focus may be on a specific project or process. 

Best experience at Tele2 so far?
The Q2 report and all the work leading up to the day of the release. As a CFO trainee you get to have an active part in this process, which is something I had never experienced before. 

What are the highlights of your day?
The small things. Anything from appreciating words from someone you work with, to when a trainee colleague brings you fruit during a late night of working. 

What is your best career advice for students who are about to start their careers?
I think a lot of students like me, with a finance-inspired background, tend to gravitate toward a specific career path within finance. To be honest, I was not even aware that companies like Tele2 had trainee programs focusing on Finance, and it was a coincident that I even found out about it. However, throughout the recruitment process, it became clear to me that this position would be my number one choice in the end. With that in mind, my advice to students in same position as I was in a year ago, is to be open minded and not limit yourself to a predetermined career path. 

Why do you recommend applying for the program? 
A lot of companies offer great entry level jobs. However, very few let you as a trainee be so involved in determining your career path. Tele2 gives you all the tools to succeed and it is up to you to decide what to do with them.
